The Whirligig makes a great garden or home accent piece. Outdoors, the whirligigs wings turn with a breeze. Indoors, they make a great sculpture on a desk or shelf.
All of my Whirligigs are handcut wood, then handpainted with exterior acrylic paint.* I use brass hardware (screws, washers, bearing, propeller and pivot tubes), which makes the whirligig more durable.
Instructions for whirligigs placed in the yard:
A one inch diameter 36" long round wooden dowel works well for whirligigs placed in the yard. Drill a 3/16" hole in one end of the dowel approximately 1-1/2" deep. The pointed end of the nail provided goes in the hole. The dowel is put into the ground about 8-10 deep. Place the whirligig on the nail, inserting the nail into the brass tube on the underside of the whirligig.
Instructions for whirligigs attached to decks or wooden fences:
A 2" x 2" wooden post works well for whirligigs attached to a deck or wooden fence. The length of the 2" x 2" post should be cut to 10-12 inches long. Drill a 3/16" hole in one end of the post approximately 1-1/2" deep. The pointed end of the nail provided goes into the hole. The post can be screwed or nailed to the deck or fence. Place the whirligig on the nail, inserting the nail into the brass tube on the underside of the whirligig.
I ACCEPT CUSTOM ORDERS. Let me know what you are interested in. I have created numerous whirligigs: Pelican, Bee, Chicken, Hummingbird, Angel, Cardinal, Ladybug, Bluejay, Barn Swallow, Flying Pig, Frog, Mallard.....
Please allow 10 business days for your whirligig to be handcrafted. I want to give time and attention to your order.
*Please note that each whirligig is slightly different-handcut and handpainted, with some variations in color shades and details.
