More relaxed than some of my wedding baskets, this one uses a more neutral palette.
This small, round tote basket matches the Handfasting program and card basket.
It has been hand coiled in a collection of white background fabrics. Sprinkled in the fabrics are various bits of pastels, with the most noticeable being pinks and greens.
It is the perfect size for a flower girl.
The basket measures 5.75 inches round (diameter).
Its basin sits 2.75 inches tall. The overhead fixed handle is twisted seagrass.
Including the handle height, it sits about 8 inches tall, overall.
I have photographed the basket with a standard kitchen egg so you can more easily gauge the size.
Not getting married?
This is also a great size for teacher, hostess or housewarming gift giving. The little tote style can hold a few bars of soap or a few home baked treats. It is also great for small storage in the bath or by the bed.
My baskets are made by the coiling method of basketry.
Strips of fabric (both new and recycled) are wrapped around an inner cording as the shape is formed. The inner cording makes these baskets sturdier than other fabric, felted or crocheted items. Each one is unique. They are entirely handmade with no machine stitching.
