The bottom of the bed is 8 1/2 inches off the ground, and the top of the headboard is about 39 inches off the ground, and there's about 13 inches from the top of the slats to the bottom of the headboard* (see note below). It has four drawers underneath that slide out to either side of the bed. Each drawer is approximately 6 inches tall, 28 inches wide, and 30 inches deep. My design approach on the drawers is to keep them recessed behind the edge of the bed, and to have them floating off the ground, so that visually the bed does not feel bulky like most storage beds do. The drawers are built from solid wood or plywood and covered in veneer of whatever wood the bed is in**, so that there is continuity between the bed and the drawers, and if someone does look underneath they'll see the same beautiful wood as elsewhere. Also, I typically leave about 16" from the back of the bed to the back of the closest drawer so that the drawer will not run into a night stand. All elements of the design can be customized for the needs of your room.
This bed in walnut or cherry with a standard headboard is $2800 in a queen. For a king, add $150. For jatoba, add $100. For extended headboard, add $100. Sorry for the confusion on the price, there are a lot of variables at work- please inquire for a specific quote.
I can deliver and assemble it for $100 if you're in the L.A. area. Shipping is $400 to $550 depending on where you live. Residents of California pay a 9.25% sales tax. My wait time for this unit is roughly 6 to 8 weeks right now. Please contact me for specifics, as this wait can change depending on a few variables.
*The first bed pictured actually has an extended headboard, such that there is only a 9" gap between the top of the slats and the bottom of the headboard. This will add $100 to the price. The second bed pictured has the standard headboard.
**If the bed is built from walnut or cherry, the drawers will be solid wood. If it's built in jatoba as in the picture, they will be plywood with veneer.
