This beautiful oval shaped pin was handmade in Russia sometime in the 1980's. It is on a very lightweight wooden base covered with black lacquer. Depicted on the front is what appears to be a scene from a Russian fairy tale. There is a man and a child in a carriage being pulled by three colorful horses. It is hand painted and the work is very delicate and detailed. The pin is signed by the artist on the back. To the best of my knowledge, the painting is entitled "Troika" and the artist's name is: Nanex. The edge is accented in a gold swirled design. This pin is in excellent vintage condition - there are no scratches, nicks or chips. (It doesn't appear to have ever been worn.) It fastens with a regular pin closure that has been embedded securely in the lacquer. The pin measures approximately 2 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches.
