We started with a vintage HAM radio speaker made of gorgeous brushed aluminum. To showcase this amazing piece, we cleaned it up and removed the original torn speaker. in it's place, we've mounted the 2 satellite speakers from a powerful HP 2.1 30 watt speaker set.
For the base, we built a custom primitive cabinet from top grade pine and stained it a rich kona. The cutout for the new volume know and power switch is backed with a salvaged piece of pressed tin ceiling that we sprayed metallic gunmetal.
Hiding under the box is the HP subwoofer that makes this piece really thump. We've tucked a dock into the top of the box and wired it all up to charge your ipod or iphone while it's in the cradle. One standard 110v chord exits the box and powers the whole unit.
Old school HAM enthusiasts were called "Homebrewers" We've brought the homebrew philosophy up to date with this one of a kind piece.
