The diamond is a cushion shape approximately 1.5 carats in weight. It is a rose cut cabochon bezel set in a thick 14k palladium white gold ring.
My hand carved setting is approximately 7mm wide by 9mm and the stone sits about 5mm off the finger. The setting was made in one piece and is a heavy walled and thick 2.5mm band with a 1.5mm-2mm profile on the band. It will wear for years and years to come.
A band would easily rest against the outside of the bezel wall.
Shown in a brushed finish, this piece would be gorgeous in matte gold or a highly polished finish.
