In very good vintage condition, with some wear to the gilded finish. Approx. 5" x 7 1/2" in size and 1" thick when closed. There is a shiny protective coating that has been applied to the art and the blessing, as this piece was designed without glass. The first orange letter of each word in the title of the blessing seems to have faded a bit from age (see photo #4).
Although unmarked, I am certain that this is from Italy. Author of blessing unknown.
Here is what is printed on the piece:
God bless the corners of this house,
And be the lintel blest;
And bless the hearth and bless the board
And bless each place of rest;
And bless each door that opens wide
To stranger as to kin;
And bless each crystal window pane
That lets the sunlight in;
And bless the rooftree overhead
And every sturdy wall;
The peace of man, the peace of God,
The peace of love on all.
