Perhaps you have a Mom like mine.
I can remember sitting at her vanity as a little girl. The vanity had a frilly skirt and a chair that was just perfect for pretending to be a Princess. Rows of perfume bottles and makeup sat on the glass vanity top.
I would perch on a vanity stool very much like this style--with a flounce and a little upholstered top. My feet barely reached the floor.
If I was good, Mom would let me put on a little lipstick and blush a little rouge on the apples of my cheeks. When I was all "beautiful" I got to walk around in her high heels with a purse and one of her dresses trailing behind me. Sometimes a long string of knotted pearls swayed around my neck.
That was a long story, but it was the inspiration for this piece, Mama's vanity chair pincushion.
Wonderful memories that were the start of becoming a young lady.
The top is a very pale peach vintage brocade fabric with a rose and leaf pattern. The edge is a flounce of gathered vanilla grosgrain ribbon in pleated fashion. There are three rows of braid, cording and pearls. The underlayment is cream felt. A lace doily accents the bottom.
A sheer ribbon with a wonderful filigree heart cascades on the front side. Three tack pins with silver filigree and peach pearls come with my Mama's Vanity Chair pincushion.
The height measures 3.5 inches and the width at the flounce is 4.5 inches. This one is quite detailed and has many layers of specialty trims all painstakingly applied with my perfectionist eye.
This really is a lovely piece, one that could become a keepsake for a lovely daughter. Or perhaps you want to honor the Mom who has given so much to you on a special day.
This was made with a lot of love. It would have been a gift that I would have enjoyed giving to my Mom. I would love it if you could share it with yours.
Thank you for visiting the studio today.
Blessings and little girl pink lipstick kisses,
