Olive oil also contains at least four different antioxidants, which can help neutralize damaging free radicals that can lead to skin aging and skin cancer. Olive oil is purported to have regenerative and restructuring virtues and has great skin moisturizing properties - it has been the skin oil of choice for millenia.
Beeswax, even after removed from the beehive, remains a biologically active product retaining anti-bacterial properties. It also contains vitamin A, which is essential for human cell development. Throughout time, people have used it as an antiseptic and for healing wounds.
Aloe vera promotes skin healing, and has anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties. Aloe vera also contains a rich source of amino acids, vitamins A, C, F, B, niacin and traces of Vitamin B12.
Three ingredients that together make up less than 1% of the cream: Stearic acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid. I use it to stabilize the cream emulsion. Borax is a naturally occurring mineral. It is used to partly saponify the oils in the cream, and as a preservative. Soy Lecithin is a natural soy product and is included for its emolliant properties and for the protection it provides to skin cells.

Some Etsy shops "make" their salves, lotions and soaps by purchasing them in bulk, and then just adding some fragrance and labeling it as their own. You can spot these items by looking at the ingredients - if it looks like some crazy chemistry experiment, guess what? That's because it is. You may be OK with that, but I won't slather the only skin I've got with chemicals, plastics, and petroleum products. Blech! Lee's Bees products are made by me, in my kitchen, in small batches from scratch, with fresh, pure, natural ingredients.
