This pen was turned on a lathe using Macacuaba wood, I used a gold twist pen kit on this pen. When you twist it to write the wood grain lines line up. The black ink cartridge is easily replaceable (pull pen apart and unscrew the ink cartridge) with blue or black for a lifetime of use. I finished the pen with a clear high gloss polyurethane finish to bring out the beauty of the Macacauba wood.
I really like the contrast between the gold and the red lines of the Macacauba wood, they go good together. I make my pens with curves in them to feel good in your hand and also to bring out the depth of the wood, I think it gives it character.
