This is a completely custom request based on a girl's self portrait. If your little one has created a wonderful picture of herself or another family member, I can create a doll version of it. You can also request a doll based on the illustrations of a character in a picture book, or any other picture you might have for me. Your Doll will be made in the softest acrylic yarn, to your specifications. It is stuffed firmly with polyester fiber fill. This would be the perfect personalized lovey for your little girl. She is about a foot in length. Her limbs are tightly crocheted but not stuffed, so they are bendable. She is machine washable since she is bound to end up dragged around everywhere by her curls, braids, dreads, etc.
You can read the story of the doll pictured in a couple blogs by the mother who ordered this for her little girl:
Since I don't know how complex the picture you'll be sending me might be, I may adjust the price of your doll. So please contact me first with the image you'd like me to recreate, and if I need to charge a little more or a little less, I will set up a special listing for you. Also, I can let you know my lead time before you order.
A little about me:
My husband and two little kiddos are my life. I'm a classically trained soprano. I never had a cavity until two years ago. I use too much salt. I've crocheted for 20 years. Favorite TV shows: Six Feet Under / Parenthood / Big Love (but I'm never on the couch without yarn and hook in hand). Favorite Musicians: Bjork / Rufus Wainwright / Joanna Newsom / Regina Spektor (and too many others to bore you with). I keep more yarn on hand than I need to. I gift crocheted items too often. I'm done with soy milk. Favorite Movies: Dancer in the Dark / In America. I delivered my baby boy Prior on 10/18/2012, and my daughter Matilda was a new years baby on 1/1/11 (3 minutes too late at 11:14). I enjoyed my epidural both times. :) I've never purchased mp3s online. I buy CDS. I want to try crocheting with cassette tape. Favorite quote from a nephew (overheard by his mother while approaching the boys' room): "Hurry, she's coming, hide it in your mouth!"
