This beautiful, hand-carved and painted Dala horse was most likely produced in the Swedish town of Mora in the 1950's by the great Nils Olsson. though it has since lost its original tag. In beautiful blue, this piece is a perfect example of Olsson's particular interpretation of the Dala horse, which is easily the best-known version of this timeless object. This Dala horse is in phenomenal condition, with no paint loss whatsoever. This piece is hand-painted, so the pattern does vary slightly on the piece; this fact, however, only adds to the overall charm of this vintage folk object. There is also a small spot of paint rub on the horse's foot (image 3). Measuring 3" by 3", this beautiful Dala horse is the quintessential Mid Century Swedish piece, and would look wonderful in any home feautring Modern Scandinavian decor.
