David Gil, an iconic designer and founder of Bennington Potters, produced this stunning trivet in the early 60's. This phenomenal tile is indicative of his finest work: a collage of soft geometry and stunning colors. This particular piece features an abstract owl, beautifully hand painted and shaped. The line work is particularly stunning, with a slight disheveled sense to the overarching symmetry. The texturing of the glaze is also very lovely, giving this piece an even greater level of craftsmanship. Bennington produced some of the finest Modern artifacts of the Mid Century, and this piece is in line with their greatest works. Marked on the back with Gil's Bennington seal, as well as "1563," this trivet is in phenomenal condition, and still retains its original wall hanging hook. The piece is missing one of its tiny "feet," though this in no way effects display. This trivet would be ideal for display, though it could certainly be used for its traditional purpose as well. A unique and arresting interpretation of Modernism, this large David Gil trivet is perfectly suited for any space, and is sure to add a touch of Mid Century grace to any home it resides in.
