Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent contributed to the notoriety of the sheaf of wheat table when both of them incorporated a version of it in their Paris apartments. This Italian-made coffee table base from the 1960's is made of steel, is hand-assembled and finished with an antiqued gilt finish. The base can support a glass top from approx. 28" to 36" inches in diameter and be used as a coffee or occasional / end table depending on the size of the glass. The glass top is not included in the listing due to infeasibility of shipping. However, if you are picking up locally, the original 36" inch round glass top is available for free.

The base is in excellent structural condition. The gilt finish is in good condition with some oxidation, which is the typical condition for the finish on these vintage tables. There is one area under the ties of the band, where the original finish appears to have been lightly touched up (photo 5). Signed with metal tag "Made in Italy" attached to one of the wheat stalks .
