Sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
Along came a spider,
Who sat down beside her,
And frightened Miss Muffet away.
I originally set out to make a red toile pincushion with some vintage fabric and some red frogs that I had on hand. (The frogs are the pineapple shaped braid around the upper edge, if you are new to old fashioned terms.)
The result was this Little Miss Muffet red Toile Tuffet pincushion. It is a blast from the past! Red and tan red toile tufted fabric make up the pincushion portion of this piece. Red frogs, red braid, ivory cording, and ivory satin flat trim are arranged around the outer side. The entire pincushion (side and bottom) is covered with deep red felt.
An enameled accent piece with a row of gems is the focal of the frontt. It is very vintage and very Victorian in appearance.
Three tack pins are included with white pearls, gold bead caps and tiny red glass hearts. It is a total presentation in a most Victorian style.
This was a hard one to photograph--the red is actually a little deeper cherry red than the photo shows. And the focal matches nicely although the color did not carry well in the photo. I think you will be pleased when you see it in person.
it is slightly weighted and measures 4 x 4 inches.
This would be a wonderful gift and is affordably priced for someone who likes an old fashioned item. Perfect as a Mom's Day gift for someone who likes a traditional piece.
