In some of the earliest accounts of Blackbeard's sail logs in the BBC documentary "Pirates", he instructed his crew on several voyages to steer away from charted waters which he called "enchanted" for fear of Merfolk or mermaids, which Blackbeard and many members of the crew reported seeing and documenting. These sighting were often recounted and shared by many sailors and pirates who believed the mermaids were bad luck and would bewitch them into giving up their gold and dragging them to the bottom of the seas.
So throughout this "Statement: collar, a mermaid filigree, 2 real sand dollars, a boro bead ( representing the reefs) are the focal pieces with various paua and various other sea shells adorning your neckline. You will even notice 2 small compasses and pieces of real beach glass among the mermaids' treasure.
Literally several hundred Swarovski crystals and pearls are beaded into this piece, representing t the sparkling waters and her chest of sparkling treasures as well as strands of fresh water pearls. The fringe is decadent; sparking in the light, and just loaded with abalone, pearls, swarovski pearls and crystals.
Whoever wears this piece will WOW others, enchanting many who cast their eyes on you :)
