-The honey & sea salt are locally harvested. The wildflower honey comes from the Eastern End of Long Island. The Sea Salt is gathered off the Atlantic Ocean coast of Fire Island.
-East End Honey: antimicrobial, antioxidant, humectant (attracts moisture to your skin), anti-aging. Rich in vitamin B and C, amino acids, and minerals. .
-Fire Island Sea Salt: Sea salt is a natural detoxifier, as the salt absorbs the toxins from the skin. Increases circulation, antiseptic effects, soft skin without a greasy feel and reduction in fluid retention are just some of the additional benefits of sea salt for the skin. Rich in trace minerals (magnesium, calcium, bromine, potassium).
-Coconut oil: rejuvenates skin, protects against damaging free radicals and can protect skin from blemishes, signs of aging or overexposure to sunlight. Helps keep your skin's connective tissues strong and balanced. Removes outer layer of dead skin cells. Penetrates deep layers of skin to strengthen the underlying tissues.
-Palm oil: nutrient-rich and contains many potent antioxidants, including beta-carotene & tocotrienols, (a very potent form of vitamin E) - defends against damaging free radicals.
-Olive oil - There are many antioxidants in olive oil including Vitamin A and E but the most potent of compounds is called 'hydroxytyrosol'. Hydroxytyrosol is a potent antioxidant found in olive oil which prevents free radical damage on skin cells. This compound also absorbs deeply into the skin and is suitable for any skin type. What is Soap?
Soap is made when an alkali bonds with an oil. This bonding is known as "Saponification". During the process, Vegetable Glycerin is naturally produced. Vegetable Glycerin is valuable & beneficial to the skin because it attracts and retains moisture. New-tech soap manufacturers remove the glycerin - either to sell it, or to use it in other skin care products. The Fire Island Soap Co. never removes the skin loving glycerin from it's famous kettle-process soaps. In addition to that, all of our bars are Superfatted. Superfatting soap means that extra oil is added to the blend. This makes the soap extra gentle, as not all of the oils will "saponify" - leaving the excess oils to delight your skin.
