Cormo is fine, but easy to spin, and it yields a delightfully squishy, sproingy yarn. I am very excited to offer these locks. I was lucky enough to have first pick of fleeces at a well-known, well-run cormo farm. I chose for softness, color, crimp & lock structure, with staple length secondary. Staple lengths vary from 3.5" to 5.5". Fiber from this farm is 19 microns or less in fineness. Most of the sheep are coated during the winter. Some of these fleeces have unique colors, some have fine or bold crimp, some are incredibly soft. Each fleece is very special.
This fine wool loves to be spun directly from the lock. Wash and flick comb (or get me to do it for you - custom orders are welcome), fan out the tip end (if you hold the lock between your thumb and index finger and move those fingers up and down, the lock will naturally “walk” toward the tip) and spin from one corner. Separate into thinner sections if desired. Spinning with a backward, sliding supported draw lends itself to laceweight, but you can spin it thicker with excellent results, also.
I've put a lot of (joyous) effort into preparing this sampler, and I know you will enjoy the results of that effort. I will be offering the fiber raw, in washed locks, in washed larger sections, and washed & dyed. Enjoy!
