This lovely sugar bowl is a beautiful example from the Enoch Woods Castles collection by Wood & Sons, made sometime between the 1920's to 1940's in England. This piece is a depiction of the Manorbier castle in Pembrokeshire, Wales. This lush purple color of transferware was called "mulberry."
In excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing. The interior has some specks that were part of the manufacturing process. The color is still vibrant and not at all faded.
This is an open sugar bowl and was not made to have a lid. It measures about 6½" across from handle to handle. It's 4" wide and just over 3" tall. It would comfortably hold more than a cup of sugar.
The bottom has a castle design and is marked:
