This dress was my very first Edwardian creation, and I was quite proud of it at the time, but I've learned so much since then and improved my ability to reproduce period clothing - so it's time for this gown to have a new owner.
The dress is constructed of 100% polyester, peach in color, with a moire and roses pattern. It has a pleated center panel, edged with peach and aqua brocade ribbon. The main focal point is the attached lace and fabric capelet. A matching attached belt is trimmed with a pair of ribbon embroidered buttons.
The dress closes with large hooks and eyes down the left side of the center panel. The interior workmanship is crude, but the exterior appearance is good. This dress is quite comfortable to wear, due to the kimono bodice style - no period style corset required!
This is not an accurate reproduction is regards to fabrics, but is faithful to late Edwardian style - this gown would be perfect for theatrical use or events where 100% authenticity is not expected.
Condition: This dress was worn once, at the Somewhere in Time weekend at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. It was then washed and put into storage for the past 17 years. There are a acattered barely noticeable spots, less than 1/4" in size - they may come out with cleaning.
Measurements: Bust - 36" (approximate, hard to measure due to the kimono bodice, Waist - 30", Shoulder to hem length - 54".
