To use a scuttle first fill the top bowl and the bottom chamber with hot tap water and let your brush soak. Dump the water out of the scuttle and refill just the bottom chamber with hot water. With shaving cream on your brush whip up a rich warm lather in the top bowl. A microwave is a convenient alternative for heating.
This scuttle measures roughly 5 inches across and 5 inches high. The bottom chamber holds about 1 cup. The top bowl holds about 1 1/2 cups and measures approximately 2 1/2 inches deep and 4 inches wide. I polish the bottom of this scuttle for a very smooth finish and sign it before firing.

I create my work by hand on a potter's wheel. It is carefully thrown to be thin and light and then signed on the bottom. I then fire it in a kiln, cover it with overlapping vivid glazes and then fire it again. Each handmade piece is unique so please allow for slight variation in size, shape and color.
My work is safe in the dishwasher and microwave and safe in the oven if you don't preheat. I create my own glazes so they are food-safe, lead-free and color-fast. My clay and glazes are specially formulated to make durable, long-lasting stoneware pottery at lower energy-saving temperatures. I fire my kiln with electricity from renewable sources like sun and wind. With each purchase I include a studio card that gives these details.
