Many hours went into making this beautiful headpiece using a quirky asymmetrical deer skull: various types of glass seed beads and freshwater pearls have been carefully stitched to the antique lace covering the skull base like a spider's web and dangle in strands from the center ornament. The eye-sockets now sprout handmade silk roses with dew drops made of glass beads. The amber colored charm in the center is more than a century old!
Other bits used in the making of this fascinator include: gemstones, wooden beads, vintage mother-of-pearl, metal and glass buttons, facetted czech glass beads and many things more. You will look at this piece of art and every time discover some new, intricate detail you've missed before - there will be nothing exactly like this gorgeous fascinator again, it's truly one of a kind!
If you want to use it for a wedding, I can add an additional veil in a matching color for a small extra fee. I can also make a sperate veil to use with this (and other) fascinators and even on it's own. Just let me know via convo!
The back of the fascinator base made of felt and hat wire is padded with wool felt hand-felted by me and then covered with an embossed satin lining, so it will adjust to the shape of your head easily and not poke you with any sharp bony bits. It is held in place by a (detachable) hat-elastic and three magnificiently sturdy hair clips that will be gentle to your hair thanks to their protective rubber coating!
As far as possible, I try to use vintage materials or remnants from my other projects to keep the impact on nature (be it waste or animal suffering) at a minimum. The deer skull I used for this hat is quite a few decades old (but still in prime condition), as are the buttons, lace trims and other findings. The feathers are found pieces, directly from the forest floor itself. All fabric used is from my re-purpose-stash. I use needle and thread to fasten each single bead securely to the fascinator to minimize the use of toxic glue chemicals.
