Popularity of styles inspired by those of the 1920s and 1930s ebbed and flowed In American fashion throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Everything old was new again, to paraphrase the 1979 song written in the style of the 20s and 30s. Onyx, silver, and marcasite were used to evoke the look of Art Deco jewelry and 1928 Jewelry created their costume take on these fashions using rhinestones and faceted plastic to simulate sterling silver, marcasite, amd diamonds. (Funny to simulate "fool's gold, or pyrite. The designers had to be laughing!)
These diamond shaped faux onyx, diamond, pyrite, and silver earrings are quite detailed, with yellow and clear rhinestones, faceted faux onyx and detailed silverwork. These earrings are 1 inch long and .75 inch wide with surgical steel posts. Amusingly enough, a pair of real sterling earrings of this design would not have been priced much differently from the original sticker price of these costume earrings. New old stock.
