This Victorian autograph book has a beautiful cover with a chromolithograph picture of a young woman, surrounded with a lot of embossed ornamentation in gold on a maroon background. The woman's picture in my photo looks to be worn or scratched, but that's just glare from the lights - in reality the picture in in very good condition. The back cover is solid maroon with no decoration. The inscription on the first page reads "Presented to Miss Gertie Packer by her sister Lelia December 25, 1889." She resided in Beech Creek, PA, and the book is inscribed on 15 of the pages with remembrances of friends and relatives, written in the early 1890's. The covers show wear on the edges and are almost completely detached, and many of the pages are loose. The pages are somewhat brown with age, and brittle, but the inscriptions are not faded and are still readable. The book measures 7" x 4-1/2".
