These eco chic designs are made from a large, rather "tired" LUXURY Kilm which I FOUND in one of my treasure hunts. It was washed and sanitized, and every square inch was meticulously checked and refurbished to look almost new. Very labor intensive but SO WORTH IT!!! I tested the fringe, which sadly, I had to cut off, and to the best of my knowledge confirmed that these are made of wool and cotton fibers.
KILIMS are flat tapestry-woven carpets or rugs and can be purely decorative or can function as prayer rugs or floor-coverings. Kilims are produced by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands of the weave to produce a flat surface with no pile.
The weft strands, which carry the visible design and color, are almost always wool, whereas the hidden warp strands can be either wool or cotton. The warp strands are only visible at the ends, where they emerge as the fringe. This fringe is usually tied in bunches, to ensure against loosening or unraveling of the weave.
Two mirrored PILLOW COVERS OFFERED HERE. I have used the kilim on the front and the back with an invisible zipper at the side so you can use BOTH sides of the pillow cover. The back is the identical pattern as the front.
Pillow cover is approximately 17x23 inch and a light fill feather 20x26 inch insert is recommended. Pillow insert not included.
Matching pillows cut from a different part of the rug are available here
These pillow covers are a labor of love requiring lots of time and patience to bring back the woven surfaces in color and strength. Gently hand wash in cool water with Woolite or dry clean.
