Malachite is a copper carbonate that was formed from copper-containing solutions near copper ore deposits. It is very popular for jewelry because of its striking green colors and banded and eye patterns. Some of the most famous malachite in the world is in the Malachite room of the Winter Palace of the Russian royal Family. Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna, the wife of Nicholas 1, used it as her drawing room. This room was built in the late 1830'3. Most of the Malachite on the market today is from Africa. It is mined by hand in small copper mines that were abandoned long ago when the copper deposits dried up. This Cabochon has fantastic bulls eyes of lighter and darker green Malachite. This piece is polished on both sides.
Malachite absorbs negative energies and encourages risk-taking and change.
