Blue Path Spiral Mandala on Slate

A blue path through the reddish earth is how I envisioned this mandala. Pure blue glass squiggles formed the building blocks of the spiral, centered around an antique Italian bead in coral glass with flecks of coppery aventurine. Then the catch the light, I used dichroic glass, transitioning into metallic glass tile, orange gold smalti and ceramic in shades of terracotta, coral, orange, and rust.

The mosaic is on a 9 inch slate base, and grouted with terracotta tinted grout.
