Aran sweaters were created in response to the cold, damp weather of the Aran Islands off Ireland's western coast. Our men's pure wool cable-knit sweater—lore holds that the cable design was a wish for safety and good luck at sea—wears comfortably indoors, too. Perfect with jeans or chinos.
For hundreds of years, women in the rural villages of the Aran Islands off the western coast of Ireland have knit natural wool sweaters for their fisherman kin. At weekly gatherings, they examined each others work and continually invented intricate new stitches. Each of the stitches in this generously sized, traditional Aran sweater represents a facet of fishing culture: the honeycomb stitch for hard work, the cable stitch for safety on the waters, and the basket weave as a wish for a plentiful catch.
This sweater is hand knitted in the traditional aran/Guernsey style with different intricate designs of cables. This cream color 25% wool, 75% acrylic aran knit sweater is knitted by me. and soft- perfect for next to skin item...soft and shrink proof.
The sweater itself is not itchy at all. Even it has the wool in it. So, you can wear this sweater with confident. Perfect for the COLD winters!!
The yarn is specially ordered from one of the best yarn maker country from Turkey.
It is made specially for people who can't wear wool due to the sensitive skin. But, this is one of a kind you can't find it anywhere.
I have knitted this aran sweater traditional style including diamond and moss stitch.

This Irish Fishermen sweater could really fit anywhere from a medium to a XX large depending on how over-sized you like your sweaters.
