Fabric and lace cuffs with a little touch of antique lace.
Marie Antoinette cuffs made for a special occasion in the Royal court !!
I made this pair with gathers to resemble the tight dress bodices worn
in the 18th century French court.
The powder blue and gold fabric is in perfect ‘Marie’ shades and has a
lovely soft sheen. Under this I put a pretty blue and pale coffee lace to
give the cuffs a light fluff and froth. I beaded flower patterns along the
top in matching blue and cream seed beads.
More seed beads are sewn in a fringe around the portrait of the queen
which is printed on cotton.
• To add luster (and a bit of decadence) I have included four blue swarovski
crystals on each cuff.
• To add history I have sewn a piece of pale coffee 100 year old antique lace.
The cuffs have soft backing for comfort.
They close with scrumptious blue ribbon
Elements of 'old' 'new' 'blue' and 'borrowed' if bought for the bride !!
Make a very royal entrance on your wedding day or special occasion.
Or just wear them while eating your favourite treat !!
size flat = 7inch high x 7 inch wide approx
As all designs are made with mixtures of fabric and beads /
crystals they cannot be washed. (They can be spot cleaned
but avoid the printed cotton) They should be treated and
worn with care so that the delicate stitches do not snag.
When not being worn keep flat in a safe place away from
sunlight, damp, dogs, cats or children !!
