Perfect for lunch or dessert.
This exquisite and tranquil Heron plate was first created by tracing a photo of a heron I took in my backyard in Florida, on a piece of fabric, and then stamping a monoprint on the clay. I then scratched through the surface with a technique called sgraffito. The decorative reed patterns you see, is a combination of painted pale green underglazes and the Japanese method knows as Mishima which is achieved by first carving and then applying slip into the carved areas; when the slip has dried the excess is removed leaving an inlay pattern.
Use it for your rings, candy or nut dish, candles spoon rest or tea bag holder. It could also be an adorable butter or soap dish.
Plate is 6" square in white stoneware pottery. I have two of these, let me know if you want both:>)
