I personally construct all my wood mobiles in my home studio and woodshop here in Southern California. I cut all pieces out of solid wood (poplar, cedar and pine) - meaning no plywood or composite pieces containing harsh glues or chemicals. Made of durable wood, my mobiles can be easily dusted (as opposed to paper or fabric mobiles) and will continue to look every bit as wonderful as the day they were hung for years to come. I also construct the 12-inch wide wooden hangers myself. I sand and shape each piece of wood individually before adding either my own original drawings or paper/fabric swatches. The mobile pieces are then sealed with a high gloss varnish. Durable plastic line is knotted to metal eyelets that have been screwed into the wood pieces, making all connections extra secure.
Most mobiles weigh between 1-1/2 to 2 pounds, depending on the style. They can easily be hung from the ceiling using a screw hook WITH an anchor - available at most home improvement stores. If you would prefer to hang the mobile from a crib mobile attachment (available for purchase from my shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/125230077/crib-mobile-attachment-clamp-attaches) please let me know either through Etsy conversations or by leaving a message in the “notes” section during checkout and I will string the mobile shorter.
My mobiles are not toys, so please keep hanging mobiles out of reach of infants, toddlers and children. Most mobiles hang 30-36 inches from ceiling to bottom or 18 inches if hanging from a crib mobile attachment clamp. Please feel free to let me know if you would like to adjust this length.
