A pop up book has been a joy to children for 100s of years, this one had been thoroughly enjoyed to the point of collapse when I found it but still good for art or display. The paper is smooth and thick like old watercolour paper, with the feel of cotton flannel sheets.

The outside features some short nursery rhymes; the inside- oh dear! The classic poem '10 little niggers' (as printed on the reverse) has been captured in technicolour glory. The drawing is excellently done and on both sides of the paper so that a circle of viewers might all enjoy the scene. Despite the questionable taste this is never-the-less a great piece and a fine addition to any collection of African Americana.

The fellow in blue has a tear either side of his body but he holds well and does not affect the strength of the stand up at all. Other than that in excellent vintage condition.

Measures 8.5 by 6.5 inches; I have several more of these coming soon all with different designs- perfect for altered art projects or just displaying on a shelf.

antique paper ephemera - pop up children's book pages - poetry - ten little politically incorrect children
