And for a brief moment its glory
and beauty belong to our world
But then it flies again
And though we wish it could have stayed...
We feel lucky to have seen it.
Sometimes there just are no words. I think small handkerchiefs are thoughtful gifts to give to a grieving friend to let her know you care.
For many centuries butterflies have symbolized the human soul. They can be found in paintings, on pottery and on tombstones. Many cultures view the butterfly as a loved one's spirit passing through to the next world. I have stitched this pale yellow butterfly in memory of all the babies and children who will never get to come home and play, but will get to dance on a summer breeze.
I have personally suffered two miscarriages and still remember all the thoughtful cards and well wishes from friends. Many tears came with each loss. This small hanky can be used to dry tears and even packed away in a memory box, or used as a bookmark in a bible.

This is the poem:
I long to feel the soft weight of you
to welcome you home, with kisses
on silky round cheeks.
Instead my arms ache with the
weight of your absence,
the empty places that were meant for you
to grow into.
My love for you will last an eternity
My hopes and dreams now carried
on the fragile wings of each butterfly passing
compelling me to pause,
to savor each moment,
each flutter in my heart, your wings.
While Waiting for Thee
Don't weep at my grave, for I am not there,
I've a date with a butterfly to dance in the air.
I'll be singing in the sunshine, wild and free,
Playing tag with the wind, while I'm waiting for thee.
- We are as the wings of a butterfly, bound together with the love of God.

What people are saying about my handkerchiefs:
"My friend really appreciated this hanky and the poem that came with it. She almost wanted to frame them both instead of using it."
"Jacklyn's handmade hankies are so beautiful and truly are thoughtful gifts. I've been returning to her shop again and again, and it's always a pleasure."
