An antique Victorian bronzed cast iron gold toned picture frame. 1900s. The heavy ornate frame with roses, dogwood flowers, a winged cherub bust and harp, all with a golden patina.
The frame is not marked. The marking may have been on the original "leg" which is missing. Because of this, the frame currently cannot stand on its own. (the plate stand it is rested on in the above photos is not included in the purchase, it is for display purposed only).
The frame contains what is assumed to be its original glass. The glass is chiped along th eedges and all of the corners. A new piece could easily br cut and replaced. However, the screws and levers are quite rusty and may require a bit of muscle to remove, in order to remove the damaged glass and replace it with a new piece, a photograph and back board.
The iron portion of the frame it completely intact and has a beautiful distressed patina. There is more wear on the finish on the back than the front, and a bit of rust on the back, only.
Each corner has a flower, a rose on the bottom corners and dogwood-like flowers on the top corners. The top center features and ornate harp design and teh bottom center has the bust of a cherub flanked by wings.
This frame is yearning to be repurposed, used again and loved.
