Space - my next frontier.
Being a long time Star Trek fan, especially the original series, I challenged myself to create the Starship Enterprise from my scraps. After a couple of prototypes that were too traditional for my tastes, I turned to my signature wood rings, which inherently made the challenge more difficult. Several more prototypes later, including a crash course in physics and balance points, I'm proud to introduce my Starship Enterprise Mobile III.
Octagon rings made from select pine are constructed with glue and finish nails. The rings are sanded, stained with Minwax Early American Wood Finish, then finished with two coats of varnish. The 'core' of the engines and the body are wooden dowels that are sanded, stained with Minwax Red Mahogany Wood Finish, then finished with two coats of varnish.
