The Mundo displays a mola, a unique piece of tribal art hand appliqued by the K(G)una tribe in San Blas, Panama. The design for the mola usually comes to the artisan in a dream and expresses the tribe’s intense connection to nature and to sacred geometry. Traditionally the K(G)una make molas in complementary pairs, as they believe that each has a soul and thus a soul mate.
Not only does your bag look amazing, but it also exemplifies your eco, socially responsible lifestyle.
Our bags are handmade by a cooperative of Panamanian women who live communally on a sustainable organic farm in a very rural area. They have good produce, but no cash. Your purchase of a NIDO bag directly supports the betterment of their lives, as well as helping to preserve the traditional mola, a pre-columbian cosmic art of the indigenous tribe K(G)una from the San Blas islands.
