It is glazed in my white 'Sea Pearl' glaze which has a lovely silky satin quality and a shino-style 'crawling' effect. Crawling is where the glaze has pulled back onto itself while molten in the kiln to reveal the warm tones of the clay beneath in random patterns. This glaze makes each piece completely unique. The interior is free of crawling, making it easier to clean.
The unglazed foot of the cup has been covered with a golden brown engobe (halfway between a clay slip and a glaze) which has a matt finish.
It has been fired to stoneware temperature (1260-1280C), making the ware strong, non porous and chip resistant. It is microwave and food safe. The unglazed foot may be vulnerable over the long term to the abrasion of a dishwasher, so I recommend hand washing (although occasional dishwasher exposure would be ok).
