2nd instalment of 5...
Beautiful bright and jazzy early art deco trio of cup, saucer and teaplate produced by Standard China in England and dating to the late 1920s.
The colourful crazy paving mosaic pattern looks like a stained glass window, completely hand-painted (brush marks clearly visible) in lipstick red, pale yellow, a pinky lilac and cobalt blue with green and black borders on a white background.
The set is in very good antique condition - there is a fine hairline beneath the saucer and a single crack in the handle (see photo), with wear to the colour on the rims, however these are old and stable, not noticeable, and the pieces display beautifully.
The pieces are marked with the Standard China backstamp, and two British Registry Numbers dating the registration of both the pattern and shape to the late 1920s.
The cup measures 6 cm/2.5" high, the saucer is 14 cm/5.5" across and the teaplate is 15 cm/6". Together they weigh 367 gms, and the estimated packaged weight is 800 gms.
