Steampunk Goggles - Steampunk Jewelry and Accessories by edmdesigns http://www.edmdesigns.etsy.com

DESCRIPTION:

Here is a truly AMAZING, unique and RARE pair of vintage Steampunk goggles created from a ressurected pair of AMERICAN OPTICAL vintage goggles. As you can see, this particular pair has incredible COBALT BLUE GLASS. This is an incredibly unique pair of goggles. American Optical, of course, has made some of the highest quality goggles that withstand the test of time and this pair is a fantastic representation of that quality. Strong sturdy frames and thick solid glass that can really take a beating. You will blow people away with the Steampunk look that these goggles create...

This pair features stunning cobalt blue tinted lenses and delicious, pewtery-silver frames with a seductive luster. This pair really has unique and exquisite good looks that will be the perfect compliment to your Steampunk wardrobe.

CONDITION:

LENSES:
The lenses on this pair of goggles are in fantastic condition. There is a minimal amount of wear that any pair of goggles or glasses acquire just through normal use - nothing can be seen while you are wearing the goggles. There is a fait typical etching of "O5" on each lens from the manufacturer, again completely unobtrusive and a hallmark of its original vintage era. When you put these on there is only crystal clear viewing at your disposal. Excellent, excellent quality glass, especially considering the significant age of these vintage goggles.

FRAMES:
The frames of these goggles are my favorite feature. I love the satiny pewter finish and the clever bridge design with opposing curved metal that is spot welded to the lens frames. The look these create absolutely rocks. There are no structural flaws on these frames at all - they are as strong and solid as the day they were made. There is definite wear to the silver finish evident, but any wear is even and smooth - and because it is a satin finish to begin with, any wear melds beautifully into the natural luster that compliments their design. For an antique, they are simply stunning.

EARPIECES - ARMS:
The earpieces are in excellent condition. They are mostly straight and they are incredibly strong. As the earpieces appear to be very thin, I tested their strength by trying to bend one to adjust the fit, but it was so strong that it took more strength than I expected and I ended up leaving it as is, though you can obviously adjust them for a personal fit if needed. The earpieces are a little floppy, but this is consistent with previous pairs that we have sold so I can only assume this is intentional. Whatever the reason, these goggles will obviously last several more lifetimes.

MEASUREMENTS:
The goggles measure approximately 115mm wide from hinge to hinge and the lenses measure a mere 36mm high, including the frames - please consider the dimensions when selecting any pair of goggles, and if you have a question please don't hesitate to ask.

* Please remember, these goggles feature professional frames and the lenses can be removed and replaced with custom prescription lenses or lenses with a different tint by any reputable optician.

If you are thinking, "those are some of the coolest small round goggles I've ever seen, and in cobalt blue to boot", we were thinking the exact same thing as well. This is a most unusual pair and we were extremely lucky to find this pair in such fantastic condition. If you would like a pair of Steampunk goggles that will truly stand out in the crowd, this is the pair to buy. You can be sure that when you don these, you will be instantly transported to another era as this classic look cannot be equaled. They are utterly breathtaking...
