I made a larger basket (7" x 2 ½") very similar to this one, shown above in the last 2 photos.
The baskets are made from recycled and leftover scraps of paper from a variety of sources, giving them a unique combination of colors, hues, and textures. Strips of paper are cut, folded, and twisted into little spirals to form the base…strips are then wrapped upward from the base to create the finished shape. The basket is protected with several layers of non-toxic glue and sealer for a low-luster, natural sheen.
Since each basket is woven by hand, each one is truly unique...slight color and size variations enhance the individual look and originality.
