SweetyPrize: people who start projects on our team create a quick file for the files section of our yahoogroup, its neat
UglyKitty: so maybe i'm just confused, but where are all these flyer, how-to, promos, etc. going to be handed out
thefunkyfelter: yes, help building team blogs/sites/shops etc.
wonderamy: I'm back! Lost my connection for a sec.
sarawearsskirts: *wonderamy's not online right now, she's working on getting her connection back
wonderamy left the room
wonderamy: I'm being bombed!!!
staceyrebecca: no, its your other you
sarawearsskirts: oh whew!
wonderamy: I'm back!!
LeahPellegrini: yes portland has a yahoo group too, i prefer the basecamp... you have to have a yahoo id to use the yahoo group
staceyrebecca: i got rid of your ghost.
SweetyPrize: it could be in the resources section under teams uglykitty
HappyHouseQuilts: we just moved from yahoo to invision...493 members
georganne: yes sweety!
mmmfiber joined the room
UglyKitty: and the promo would be handed out?
georganne: hhq, thinking of a forum for JUST mods?
LeahPellegrini: hiya adrienne
HappyHouseQuilts: 179 at new messge board and 161 at etsy team page with 18 waiting to be emailed
wonderamy: Uglykitty, these will be availabl on the current teams section of the web site, for online reference or for printing out.
thefunkyfelter: I think its harder for international teams like the fiber arts group to put to good use flyers, promos, etc. - no local events.
dmriceart: Sorry, I hit something!
SweetyPrize: you just print them out and hand them out
wonderamy: some of them might even be little things yo can print out and make into a zine or a book - kind of a reference library or ideas and resources,
HappyHouseQuilts: we don't have local events either
georganne: good, sweety
sarawearsskirts: there are some resources at http://team.etsy.com, we're working on making lots more
UglyKitty: ok
dmollison: ok
SweetyPrize: we have a flyer for trashion, we uploaded to our site and you can simply download it print it hand it out
staceyrebecca: "So you've decided to make a web presence
wonderamy: or an ecyclopedia of the collective intelligece of the etsy street teams
thefunkyfelter: could we have a list of promo suggestions for local, regional, international, etc. - to cover all the team aspects?
HappyHouseQuilts: YES!
staceyrebecca: "so you've decided to host a public event...."
nancygamon left the room
UglyKitty: i like those
staceyrebecca: A checklist of things to do when you hold a public event would be awesome.
virtuallori: I love checklists
PaganoDesignWorks: more ideas for non-local team promotion
UglyKitty: a while ago I promised mary i'd write a Guide to a Trunk Show
wonderamy: ok, we have generted a lot of really great ideas here...
staceyrebecca: include in that list whom to email to get your event on the team's calendar!
HappyHouseQuilts: how do we encourage members to bring in outsiders to etsy.com...a script of sorts
esdesigns: promoting your team website?
LeahPellegrini: http://www.basecamphq.com/index this bulletin board is made for projects, there are to-do lists and whatnot
thefunkyfelter: yes, non-local team promotion guide :)
UglyKitty: it's still in the works (kind of) but that could be something to include too
SweetyPrize: just let me know if you need help writing a guide
sarawearsskirts: thanks, sweety
PaganoDesignWorks: I am getting lots of questions about how to get etsy $$ for events
dmriceart: Amy, dmriceart here... did you get my list? :O)
georganne: lol pagano!
mmmfiber: sorry I missed most of this! (dang day-job)
staceyrebecca: "so you've decided you want etsy to help you fund things..."
wonderamy: yes, thanks dmrice...
dmriceart: ok:O)
trpottery: Does Etsy help fund things?
SweetyPrize: lol stace
tanisalexis: I kinda of have to agree with Pagano
staceyrebecca: yes, trp
Messaging reserved for room moderators and admin only.
sarawearsskirts: okay, i just want to clear things up on etsy and funding
sarawearsskirts: since this gets brought up a lot
sarawearsskirts: i know matt said etsy would help you fund things
sarawearsskirts: we love when teams have events and want to help you guys
sarawearsskirts: we obviously can't just give out hundreds of dollars to each team for each event
sarawearsskirts: basically, etsy can contribute to your promotional budget for an occasional big event your team wants
sarawearsskirts: but we evaluate things case by case
sarawearsskirts: we won't just give you money for a general ad
sarawearsskirts: but we'll think about contributing toward, for example, printing costs for flyers for a specific event.
sarawearsskirts: we'd rather see you all be creative though
sarawearsskirts: street teams traditionally operate on shoestring budgets
sarawearsskirts: etsy teams are hybrids of street teams, and we know you're all creative
sarawearsskirts: so we'd rather you creatively work out ways to advertsise that aren't so reliant on cash
wonderamy: (hence our ideas along the lines of "100 ways your team can promote itself for\ under $10"
sarawearsskirts: so, really consider everyone on your team chipping in $5 or coming up with a cheap or free wya to do something before you ask for funding
dmriceart left the room
sarawearsskirts: when we do contribute, we probably will want some creative control over where the money goes, so be ready for that
sarawearsskirts: we're working on a form, similar to the promo request form, for you all for these funding requests,
sarawearsskirts: just wanted to clear that up.
Messaging enabled.
PaganoDesignWorks: MAay I suggest that you come up with guidelines and an application for a "Team Grant" so it is more formalized and seen as more fair?
wonderamy: (sson sara will have to go work out her hand cramp after doing all this typing)
thefunkyfelter: what if you're an international team like fiber arts and don't have any public events? That's why I think that a promo guide needs to focus on the different kinds of teams - local, regional, international, etc. . . I'm just sayin' :)
willowglass: so potential funding with then be available only to location based teams, is that correct?
PaganoDesignWorks: yes,, you just said that didn't you
sarawearsskirts: oh yes, funkyfelter, we want to make things ALL teams can use
georganne: Kids hungry, baby crying, gotta go, I'm an Etsy"mom", ya know...Jodi, fill me in later?
tanisalexis: yea- total sens funky
wonderamy: thats right funky...thats why i was asking for ideas about guides for global street teams. what would be useful for the global teams?
dmriceart joined the room
dmollison: Take care all! Gotta start the day.
dmollison left the room
SweetyPrize: i think being global has more options than local
PaganoDesignWorks: webspace
dmriceart: debi back... LOL!
thefunkyfelter: perhaps more internet based promo ideas or net based trunk show for int'l teams
sarawearsskirts: you can certainly think of it that way, sweety
wonderamy: net-based trunk show - interesting
abbey753: print ad for global teams
trpottery: Gotta go, too--best of luck, ya'll
virtuallori: how to do an internet-based trunk show
tanisalexis: yes, a way of making a trunck show happen for Canada would be a beautiful thing
UglyKitty: a list of resouces to promote your events...like links to craigslist, dailycandy, etc.
trpottery left the room
staceyrebecca: i'd love to see a trunk show done via webcam.
staceyrebecca: in the workshop
SweetyPrize: egcg did an awesome one
thefunkyfelter: we have a blog, website, forum - but activities would be nice for int'l teams
georganne left the room
dmriceart: Amy, just sent that I could help with some artwork for the Street Teams... if you need it...
LeahPellegrini: where will the notes from this workshop be published, so many of us have gotta go

dmriceart: I will not commit time of others, but will offer up the idea...
tomatedepingles: did someone mention a guide to a healthy and busy team? what to do to entice participation? and weed out members who dont want to particpate?
SweetyPrize: or any team wanting to educate more on their genre and its subgenres
sarawearsskirts: we'll send you all a link to the transcript, but be sure to email teams@etsy.com with "i am a team leader" and your team name
mmmfiber: mmmfiber@gmail.com

willowglass left the room

wonderamy: good ideas everyone, and we will compile them and use them and probably enlist your help some more.
wonderamy: thanks so mch everyone!

daniellexo left the room
