sarawearsskirts: okay, i think a nice way to begin our chat might be to brainstorm all the great things teams can do with tags

ThePeachTree: So I have a hard time with tagging as I'm a part of a few groups

sarawearsskirts: or scavenger hunts, etc
ThePeachTree: EFA has print outs that I add along with each order to ge the awareness out
sarawearsskirts: online events, to make your shops easy to find as a group

ThePeachTree: There's also a mystery blog Feature going on with one of the groups. I think it's a great idea

sarawearsskirts: but i do want to talk about an important change we're going to ask teams to make to their tags
sarawearsskirts: we're asking that teams incorporate the word "team" into their tags

sarawearsskirts: because it's easy for a new member to think that "eco etsy" for example might just mean environmentally friendly items listed on etsy
ThePeachTree: Would that make everything come up that has the word "team" in it?
knittingmette: but what do you mean with mistagging????
Siarh: what if you feel your team doesnt have much confusion?
sarawearsskirts: but using "team eco etsy" for example is much harder to confuse as anything but an etsy team

sarawearsskirts: by mistagging, i mean people who are not on your team using the tag
squirrelmomma: if i understand this "plushteam" is doing already?

FishOnTheWall: We have recently changed our teamtag to JETTEAM !
projectfelt: should we use the space or type teamecoetsy?
sarawearsskirts: if your team is not currently having issues with this
sarawearsskirts: i'd still recommend making this change when you can (over time)
FishOnTheWall: I think w/o the space is better, less bleed in searches
Siarh: Ok so dont make everyone go back and change now, just have them add it to all thier new ones
knittingmette: ok, but how might we stop that? everyone can write cwhat he wants to write....
sarawearsskirts: also, if you use the word "team" in your tag, it makes it easy for me to spot items made by a team member
projectfelt: I know that you are not to put more than one word in the tag space thats why im asking
sarawearsskirts: making it one word (
sarawearsskirts: (sorry, i know i typed it before with spaces for clarity)

projectfelt: it wont happen overnight but gradually we can migrate to the new tag
FishOnTheWall: so now, CCCOE needs to be CCCOETeam?
sarawearsskirts: including the word team makes it a little more credible for team members to politely convo people who are not on the team to ask them to either join the team or not use the tag

sarawearsskirts: i know it seems a little cumbersome, but i feel that as the site grows,
sarawearsskirts: it will really be beneficial
projectfelt: as you know ecoetsy is having this issue now

sarawearsskirts: it's an issue, but not one we can really completely police right now for various reasons
FishOnTheWall: JET DID have an issue- that is why we changed our team tag
sarawearsskirts: mostly because team membership fluctuates so much

sarawearsskirts: it's not mandatory to change the tag, but we highly recommend it
sarawearsskirts: is this a good compromise of a solution?
projectfelt: Im all for it if it will mean more support from etsy if we still have an issues
