Sewing is my creative outlet and I am one who has always needed this outlet. My mom can tell stories of me as a child storming around the house yelling, "I need to create something!"

I started helping my mom sew when I was three years old - though that just meant picking pins up off the floor! But soon I was hand stitching and turning parts for stuffed animals. I tried my hand at making doll clothes, started my first quilt in grade school, and later made robes, pajama pants, and other clothing.

As an adult, I no longer rage around the house looking for something to create - I just head for my sewing room! I love collecting fabric and I am a bit of a hoarder but I am bound and determined to use all my scraps of fabric and not let them languish for too long.

I generally work with cottons, but I also like wool, corduroy, and silk. My real favorite is anything that is recycled: found at a thrift store, re-purposed from unwanted clothing or left over scraps, or obtained from someone elses giant stash that they are getting rid of. I love to turn something previously unwanted or unused into something usable and loved. But since I can't resist the lure of a fabric store, I love stocking up at my local quilt shop which is only a couple blocks away!
