Welcome to Alma’s Knit Shop!

The name Alma is a beautiful name meaning “soul.” It was the name of my maternal great-grandmother who immigrated to the US from Sweden in the late 1800s – something which took an incredible amount of soul and courage. I am honored to have her name as my middle name and that I can continue her legacy here with me through my shop.

Just as she followed her heart to America, I also am following my own heart. When I was given the choice between continuing to focus on my shop and putting it on the back burner to pursue higher education, I was surprised at how strong my knitting called to me. So here I am – a stay-at-home mom living and breathing a self-directed, self-created life and I love it!

I started out primarily knitting women’s accessories – wraps, hats, scarves, cowls, and backgammon games. It was through my first custom order for a wedding wrap that I found a deeper connection with my work. Family is very important to me and a wedding is a beautiful and pure beginning to all that lies beyond – no wonder I found a lot of joy knitting that first wedding shawl.

I primarily knit elegant and simple accessories for weddings and special events. I also continue to enjoy knitting one-of-a-kind pieces. I mostly use premium yarn for all my pieces, my favorite being bamboo, linen/cotton blends, and different wools. I work together with my mom and we share in the process of knitting for our customers.

Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have questions or thoughts on a custom order. I would be thrilled to work with you so that your big day is special and just how you envision it.

Thanks reading my story and happy browsing!
