Mara Hajjar's Profile
Hello and welcome to Hajjar Jewelry.
My Jewelry is greatly inspired by where I call home. I was raised in the Rocky Mountains at the edge of Glacier National Park and the Blackfeet reservation, and growing up on the reservation I fell in love with the Blackfeet history and art. Inspired by nature and old legends I turned to copper as a way to express my love for the place I grew up. For centuries copper has been used by indigenous people to worship their great sprits, and it’s rich color was believed to represent the mother, more importantly the mother earth. My designs are inspired greatly by old paintings and tools used by the Native Americans, but I distress the metals and use patinas to create an organic and earthy texture that emanates balance and beauty. I also try to incorporate as many found object and recycled metals as possible.
