For those of you curious about the name, the literal translation is "Love Orchid" in Spanish. Growing up in El Salvador, I became very fond of the flower, since my father would give my mother a bunch of orchids whenever he had the chance. Having lost my father in the civil war in El Salvador when I was only eight years old, the orchid represents a lasting love I will always have for him.

Coming from El Salvador at the young age of 17, I didn't know what to expect here in the United States. I had young, bright eyes, shimmering at the thought of creating a grand life for myself in the land of opportunity. I had vision, ambition, persistence, and a willingness to learn.

About

I started making jewelry when I took a job working in a jewelry store almost 15 years ago. They needed experienced designers to make handcrafted jewelry and also to help clients in the retail portion of the shop. I had no formal education with jewelry whatsoever. But what I did have was an eager and determined attitude, and the owner saw it in my eyes. He decided to give me a chance, and the rest is history.

Nearly 20 years later since moving to the United States, I've come to realize my life has had purpose, but not without hardship and struggle. I've been married and divorced. I've worked many jobs, sometimes three jobs at a time. There have been times where I've had to settle for cup noodles every day, for weeks at a time. But there are two things in my life that has made the struggle worth it for me. These two things are my daughters, Tanesi and Alondra.

I've opened up this shop to continue my love of making jewelry and to share this love of mine with the rest of the world. It started out as a hobby; I used to make little pieces for my daughters. But when this hobby turned into a passion, I decided I would continue to make pieces and place them on Etsy. My dream is to create a flourishing store and hopefully establish enough business to send my girls to college. I will do whatever it takes to turn my dream into a reality.
