Linda C Smith's Profile

About

Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. My grandfather was a painter – he worked in oils and loved to paint both California seascapes and California missions. His style was realistic and it came as a surprise to us both that I would be attracted to the abstract. I consider myself an “abstract colorist” because for me the passion is manipulating color. I honed my skills at both Eastern Michigan University and then the University of Oregon where I graduated with a B.A. in Humanities. I’m currently working in mosaics, utilizing tiny ceramic tiles made in Morocco. I also enjoy working in acrylics, mixed media and photography. Each medium offers a unique challenge to expressing what I see in Life – color.
