Fabric is my medium of choice. Texture, color, and dimension - what else is there? My artwork is usually based on a concept, rather than a vision. I see usual items in an unusual way and incorporate that into my creations. I like the unique, hope you do too!
When I was a little girl, I wanted to design clothes - now, 50 years later, I'm finally following that path.
Several years ago, I started selling on ebay as a way to reach a larger audience with my art and interests. My ebay seller ID is: keygoodsandarms. Now, I've found Etsy - so most of my handmade items will be in this shop.
My interests are varied so you might see a variety of items posted by me. I like antiques and vintage. I paint (mostly watercolor and acrylic). I make custom clothing and costumes (I love sewing and embroidery and can create that one-of-a-kind item to showcase your unique style). I think it's a lot of fun to "upcycle" or re-purpose a garment or piece(s) of fabric! I love to recycle found objects into something useful, beautiful, or just a conversation piece!
Community is important to me too and I volunteer with local arts organizations. My brick and mortar shop is the Blue & Grey Book Shoppe (in the 3 Trails Brewing Company building) on the historic "Independence Square" (Independence, Missouri).
Music has always played a large part in my life and I play the hammered dulcimer - mine is as sweet-sounding as a harp, yet can be "bright" enough to play for a Civil War Dance, Victorian Ball or a Contra Dance.
I've been involved with Civil War re-enactors for many years and my book store (Blue & Grey Book Shoppe) specializes in American History, the Civil War, local history, as well as other non-fiction titles related to collecting, cooking, sewing, quilting, women's issues, health, business, biography, political, and art books.
