I started making natural products in 2001 while I was a preschool teacher. As I was cleaning my classroom, I woke up from a habit most of us have, spraying harmful toxins into the air to "clean". Covering the surfaces we played, eat and slept on with chemicals, I cringed at the thought of the toys the toddlers would put in their mouths when I wasn’t looking and decided to do something about it.

Coming from a Caribbean family with a tradition of herbal home remedies, I decided to make some simple, effective cleaners with essential oils, which are natural, plant based antibacterial and antiseptic wonders. Plants have many useful properties and have been around for thousands of years before any of the hazardous chemicals we use came into being. I tried them first at home and liked how they worked, scenting the air as I cleaned. I could feel the difference the natural ingredients had on my body and mind as compared to the heavy, toxic fumes from the regular cleaners.

Some of the teachers who also wanted to lessen the amount of chemicals in the classroom used my product, noting the calming effect the diffused scents had on their classroom...And when my goddaughter got a common hair condition from her school, a simple recipe of oils worked quicker and most importantly, safer as compared to the expensive boxes of chemical, store-bought “fixes” we applied to ourselves over and over beforehand.

Soon after that I decided to study the plants, herbs and oils that I use in my recipes.
