LEARNING TO BE CREATIVE
As far back as I can remember, my Grandmother was making quilts. She’d cut, piece, sew, and quilt each one by hand – even though she had an old-fashioned Singer sewing machine ( the kind you had to pump with your feet). It usually took her an entire year to finish just one – sometimes she’d get two done if they weren’t too complex. Every one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild received at least one quilt until she just couldn’t do it anymore. The butterfly quilt she made me is one of my most prized possessions.
I learned to sew from her. Although I do occasionally like to quilt, I just don’t have the patience for it that my grandmother had.
